Adult Community Services

The Community Support Services (CSS) program provides a broad array of services and supports in the community for adults who live in Brown, Doniphan, Jackson, or Nemaha counties whose mental health challenges cause moderate to severe disruption to daily life activities and relationships. CSS services are provided where a person lives, works, goes to school, or socializes. To be eligible for these services, individuals must have an evaluation by a therapist to ensure that they meet criteria.

Mental Health First Aid

Kanza offers Mental Health First Aid training to communities and organizations:

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an 8-hour training course facilitated by certified Kanza staff. The course is designed to provide individuals with the skills they need to help someone who may be experiencing a mental health crisis or developing a mental health problem.

Participants learn the facts and warning signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Trainees are taught how to apply the 5-step strategy in a variety of situations, such as helping someone through a panic attack, engaging with someone who may be suicidal, or assisting an individual who has overdosed. An important component of the MHFA training is the opportunity to practice the intervention strategy. This simple experience can make it easier to actually apply the knowledge in a real-life situation.

This course may be eligible for continuing education credits for many different professions, such as nurses, educators, human resource professionals, etc. Participants should let the instructor know they would like CEUs.
