How to Read the Sliding Fee Scale
Kanza Mental Health & Guidance Center uses a Sliding Fee Scale to determine discounted service rates based on your household income and family size.
Step 1: Determine Your Family Size- Find the number of people living in your household, including yourself, in the left-hand column of the chart.
Step 2: Find Your Annual Household Income- Locate your total annual household income across the row for your family size.
Step 3: Identify Your Discount Category-Match your income to the corresponding Federal Poverty Level (FPL) percentage column. Each column shows the discount percentage available for that income range.
Step 4: Determine Your Fee-Once your discount category is identified, refer to the "Fee for Service" section at the bottom of the chart to see the amount you may be responsible for paying per service.
Example: A family of four with an annual household income of $60,000 falls within the 150%–200% Federal Poverty Level range. Based on the Sliding Fee Scale, they may qualify for a discounted rate rather than paying the full service fee. If your household has more than eight members, add $5,500 to the income threshold for each additional person.
If you need assistance determining your eligibility or understanding the fee scale, our staff are happy to help. Please contact Kanza Mental Health & Guidance Center for more information.
